薄詩(shī)雨現(xiàn)任暨南大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)與社會(huì)研究院長(zhǎng)聘副教授,副院長(zhǎng),于北京大學(xué)獲得經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)與統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位、于倫敦政治經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院獲得經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)碩士與博士學(xué)位。其研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)榘l(fā)展經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué),城市與區(qū)域經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué),資源與環(huán)境經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)。研究成果發(fā)表于Journal of Development Economics、Journal of Urban Economics、Journal of Comparative Economics、Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization、Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics等國(guó)際權(quán)威期刊。主持國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金面上項(xiàng)目與青年項(xiàng)目等國(guó)家級(jí)課題,曾獲“青木昌彥經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)論文獎(jiǎng)”提名獎(jiǎng)、IESR最佳教學(xué)獎(jiǎng)、暨南大學(xué)教工黨支部書(shū)記述職評(píng)議考核通報(bào)表彰等獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。
內(nèi)容提要:
This lecture investigates the effect of agricultural technology on rural welfare by analyzing China’s first adoption of electric irrigation. In 1924, rural areas of Wujin county in Jiangsu province unexpectedly gained access to electric irrigation from a nearby urban power plant. Based on county-level panel data from 1912 to 1933,difference-in-differences analysis and the synthetic control method show positive effects on farmland values but not on farm wages. Further analysis using newly published household-by-crop-level data illustrates that access to electric irrigation increased crop yields and the irrigated area for rice, the most water-sensitive crop, and reduced agricultural labor inputs
本次講座通過(guò)分析中國(guó)首次電力灌溉的實(shí)踐,研究農(nóng)業(yè)技術(shù)對(duì)農(nóng)村福利的影響。1924年,江蘇省武進(jìn)縣的農(nóng)村地區(qū)意外地獲得了來(lái)自鄰近城市發(fā)電廠(chǎng)的電力灌溉資源。這一自然實(shí)驗(yàn)為我們提供了研究農(nóng)業(yè)技術(shù)推廣效應(yīng)的理想機(jī)會(huì)?;?912年至1933年的縣級(jí)面板數(shù)據(jù),采用雙重差分方法與合成控制法的實(shí)證結(jié)果表明,電力灌溉顯著提升了農(nóng)地價(jià)值,但對(duì)農(nóng)業(yè)工資未產(chǎn)生明顯影響。進(jìn)一步結(jié)合新發(fā)布的戶(hù)作物級(jí)數(shù)據(jù)分析發(fā)現(xiàn),電力灌溉提高了最需水作物——水稻的單產(chǎn)與灌溉面積,同時(shí)減少了農(nóng)業(yè)勞動(dòng)力投入。
