主講人簡(jiǎn)介

Franca Poppi是摩德納-雷焦·艾米利亞大學(xué)英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言學(xué)和翻譯學(xué)的正教授,同時(shí)也是該大學(xué)語(yǔ)言中心的主任。Franca Poppi教授是Profile Journal,Issues in Teachers' Professional Development等學(xué)術(shù)期刊的顧問(wèn)委員會(huì)成員,也是《亞洲ESP期刊》和《語(yǔ)言學(xué)與文學(xué)研究期刊》等國(guó)際國(guó)際期刊的審稿小組成員。此前,她致力于研究話(huà)語(yǔ)的互動(dòng)特征,特別是在學(xué)術(shù)環(huán)境下(經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)和市場(chǎng)營(yíng)銷(xiāo)教科書(shū))和法律語(yǔ)言,如今她將研究興趣轉(zhuǎn)向了跨文化交際。英語(yǔ)在企業(yè)書(shū)面交流和企業(yè)網(wǎng)站中廣為使用,對(duì)于多元文化背景的受眾而言,是一中常見(jiàn)的交流工具。因此,F(xiàn)ranca Poppi教授特別關(guān)注英語(yǔ)作為國(guó)際通用語(yǔ)言的問(wèn)題。她察覺(jué)到了企業(yè)需要平衡地方文化特性和全球吸引力,于是研究了商務(wù)英語(yǔ)在航空業(yè)的應(yīng)用,調(diào)查了不同航空公司(達(dá)美航空、日航和阿提哈德航空)在保護(hù)環(huán)境方面的積極性,并將其記錄在企業(yè)社會(huì)責(zé)任報(bào)告中。

Franca Poppi is Full Professor of English Linguistics and Translation at the University of Modena and Modena and Reggio Emilia, where she is also the Director of the University Language Centre. She is on the Advisory Board of the Profile Journal, Issues in Teachers' Professional Development and is also a member of the review team of other international Journals, such as, for instance, the Asian ESP Journal and the Journal of Linguistics and Literature Studies. After studying the interactional features of discourse, with particular reference to academic settings (economics and marketing textbooks) and the language of the law, she moved her research interests towards intercultural communication. In particular, she has been focusing on English as an international lingua franca, as it is used in written corporate communication and corporate web-sites as a common means of communication to address multiple and multicultural audiences. Paying attention to companies' need to balance local cultural identity and global appeal, she has investigated Business English in the aviation industry, exploring the proactivity of different airlines' (Delta, JAL and Etihad) in the preservation of the environment, as documented in their CSR reports.

全球化使人類(lèi)的活動(dòng)范圍擴(kuò)大到了世界各地,為人類(lèi)事務(wù)的組織形式帶來(lái)了天翻地覆的改變。隨著國(guó)際聯(lián)系的加強(qiáng),找到一種能讓天南海北商業(yè)伙伴溝通交流的通用語(yǔ)言愈發(fā)重要。

當(dāng)今時(shí)代,英語(yǔ)已成為世界各地用于交流的首選聯(lián)絡(luò)語(yǔ)言。鑒于目前的情況,非母語(yǔ)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)(ELT)中,不可能再沿用英國(guó)或美國(guó)的傳統(tǒng),因?yàn)橛⒄Z(yǔ)在成為國(guó)際交流的語(yǔ)言時(shí),不可避免地收到了其世界各地使用者的影響。被國(guó)際使用者所采用的同時(shí),也不可避免地被他們所適應(yīng)。為了闡明“成功的全球交流”特點(diǎn),本講座將重點(diǎn)討論學(xué)生要成為高效專(zhuān)業(yè)人員,必須掌握的不同層次能力。

Globalization has drastically transformed the organization of human affairs, by expanding people's activities across regions and continents, The intensification of worldwide relations has inevitably highlighted the need to find a common language to be used for contacts with business partners living in widely different and distant places.

In present times, English has become the preferred contact language employed for communication purposes all around the world. Therefore, given the present situation, in ELT (English Language Teaching) it is not possible to fall back on the traditions of British or US orientation, as English, by being adopted by international speakers, is inevitably also adapted by them. In order to provide a characterization of “successful global communication”, the present lecture will focus on the different layers of competence that students have to master, in order to become efficient professionals.
